A while back I regularly published articles for Italian online magazine 2DM. Themes that I covered varied from the practice of downshifting in fashion, to the antidote of today’s throwaway fashions: the predicament of 'slow' handcrafted clothing.
For more than three years, I was assigned as editorial director at PRESTAGE, an independent fashion magazine premised on showcasing talented Dutch creatives in an international context. Additionally, I executed two lengthy pieces of writing.
For U.S fashion magazine CREEM I reported on how the ‘hipper than thou’ hipster culture evolved and more so, why it is often unjustly vilified.
N.B: Shortly after approval of this piece, the editorial staff decided to change the entire theme for that particular edition, which meant it never reached publication. It was one of my very first long reads, so I couldn't help but dump it here.
SCIENCE OF THE TIME
For cultural research agency Science of the Time, I frequently reported on multifarious subjects, such as innovating art projects, novelties in the apparel industry and developments in the scope of sustainability and the food sector.
For over four years, I was also appointed the agency's editorial director. Furthermore, I facilitated lectures on the Art of Coolhunting at the request of various universities and academies in Milan, Shanghai, Paris and New York.
As for Société Perrier, a global source devoted to art, fashion, travel, music and nightlife, I periodically addressed fashion and art affiliated matters.
Unfortunately, they closed the site in 2015. Yet I did manage to save one article:
I LOVE FAKE
For I Love Fake magazine, I wrote a piece on the new up-and-coming men's wear designer Astrid Andersen. Too bad they closed down their initial website, where the story was up for display, yet you can still read it here:
In commission of Second Sight, a Dutch platform, publisher and bureau specialised in trend research and trend forecasting, I wrote a story on ethics and the importance of practical philosophy for Second Sight’s print magazine.
IMPACT HUB AMSTERDAM
I was assigned at Impact Hub Amsterdam, a hub designed for people who are adamant in making a difference in this world. In this capacity I worked as a copywriter and support in communications.
I was a weekly contributor to online fashion magazine Style Indicator. I covered everything there is to know about fashion: from its historical origins and cultural basis, to the sources of inspiration and its faux-pas. It’s all about digging deeper…
For Belgian cultural research and forecasting agency Trendwolves, I have co-written and translated some of their their annual overview reports. Dubbed resp. "Bright Underground" and "Browsing the Margins", the books cover a wide array of different socio-cultural momentums in music, fashion, photography and art, all with today's youth at focal point. Similarly, I translated a booklet on youth culture's tight alliance with electronic music. Fourth transliteration in line is a book which has jazz music at focal point. On the side, I also write and transcribe smaller reports.
